Update On Josh Alexander's TNA Absence

TNA star Josh Alexander's last wrestled at the company's Under Siege event on May 3, where he teamed with Eric Young to defeat Frankie Kazarian and Steve Maclin. 

Days later, The Walking Weapon announced that he was pulling out of all of his independent dates for the rest of the month, citing no injury but 'personal health issues' that have left him in constant pain. The nature of the health issues were not disclosed. 

In a positive update on the situation, PWInsider is reporting that the hope internally within TNA is that Alexander will return to action in June.

The former TNA World Champion's deal was set to expire earlier this year. Despite Alexander reportedly telling the company that he wanted to explore his options elsewhere, his contract was renewed for another year.

Speaking with Fightful, the 36-year-old denied he was being held hostage by TNA, saying: 

"I signed the contract two years ago. I've seen people on Twitter and stuff like that being like, 'Josh is being held hostage and all this stuff', and I want to dispel that. First and foremost, at the end of the day, I want to be able to look myself in the mirror with my head held high so that I carry myself as a professional. Did I explore the option of them not extending my contract? Sure. It never hurts to ask, but I signed that contract and I'll uphold my end of the bargain there and stay here for another year and see what happens after that. It's always a possibility that I negotiate a long-term extension before then. Anthem has already had interest in doing that. At the end of the day, I think it would have been cool to kind of see what was out there and see what I could do in the wrestling business right now between, you know, other companies and stuff like that if there's interest because that's not something I've ever been able to do. The ball was in their court. It was a team option, they picked it up, and I'm happy to stay for another year and do the things I've been doing for the past five years".
