Update On Matt Taven & Mike Bennett's AEW Status
The latest on Matt Taven and Mike Bennett’s AEW status
Jan 24, 2025
Matt Taven and Mike Bennett have been conspicuous by their absence on All Elite Wrestling television, with the duo absent during the recent reformation of the Undisputed Kingdom.
Whilst the trio of Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly have presented a united front on TV, The OGK have not been included, with a report from Fightful Select suggesting the duo were never intended for the original reunion of the group, assumed to mean when Cole, O’Reilly, and Strong renewed their alliance in late 2024.
When O’Reilly was sidelined with a serious neck injury and after former member Bobby Fish departed AEW in 2022, the Undisputed Kingdom instead saw Cole and Strong enlist Cole’s original Ring Of Honor Kingdom stablemates Bennett and Taven as well as Wardlow into the group in late 2023. The Kingdom originally consisted of Cole, Bennett, Taven, and Matt Hardy upon their formation in ROH in 2014.
The report states that Bennett and Taven are still ‘technically’ on the roster but have seemingly not been at TV recently, and it remains to be seen if the OGK rejoin the stable, or quietly exit the group. The duo last wrestled at ROH Final Battle on December 20, 2024.
