An update on Michael Oku's status with AEW has been given by Fightful Select. The British wrestling star was heavily linked with AEW around the time of this year's All In pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium, but little has emerged since then. Fightful's report states:

"They have had their eyes on him, and Tony Khan has said that he likes Oku. They bring him in when they're overseas. However, he's not signed, and we haven't heard that he's going to be imminently. He's still working in the UK."

In an August interview with Stephanie Chase, Oku himself implied that discussions with AEW were ongoing at the time, explaining:

"I think that’s the most I can confirm, is that there’s been contact made. [...] I wrestled Will earlier in the year in front of Tony Khan. I got to meet Tony Khan and have a conversation with him there at the venue as it happened. This match happens with MJF, they’ve posted my promo on their channels, they’re promoting this. So, there’s been contact to allow these things to happen with AEW, so there’s been contact of what we can potentially do in the future. I’ll leave it there."

Oku dropped the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship to Luke Jacobs on the weekend of All In, and worked a dark match on AEW Dynamite a few days prior.

However, he has since won a number one contender's match to potentially win back his former title. He remains a part of the UK wrestling scene, at least for now.
