Update On Plans For AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2024

Potential AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 plans revealed

The third annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view is a little under two months away, with the best of All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling set to clash in New York's UBS Arena on June 30.

Whilst the focus of the show will be AEW vs. NJPW, Rocky Romero told Fightful that other companies affiliated with the two brands could also make their presence felt at the event, with Romero stating that NJPW sister company STARDOM will “definitely’ be showcased on the card, whilst heritage lucha libre promotion CMLL will “very likely” be part of the show.

With former booker Rossy Ogawa gone from STARDOM, the Joshi promotion has started working with AEW on a more consistent basis, with the likes of Mina Shirakawa, Tam Nakano, and AZM having featured across AEW and Ring of Honor programming over the last few months.

CMLL and NJPW have been partners for several years, but CMLL recently came into a working agreement with AEW despite Tony Khan having a working agreement with CMLL’s fierce rivals Lucha Libre AAA. The participation of both STARDOM and CMLL with Forbidden Door has been speculated upon for several months.
