Fans of Blood & Guts rejoice, as AEW’s answer to War Games is likely to return in 2022.

Named after a pithy remark from WWE’s Vince McMahon, Blood & Guts has only occurred once in AEW’s short history, but according to AEW President Tony Khan during an interview with ESPN, Blood & Guts II could be on the agenda this Summer.

Originally scheduled for March 2020, Blood & Guts was meant to pit The Elite vs. The Inner Circle, but was ultimately postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The match eventually took place on May 5 2021, and saw The Pinnacle defeat The Inner Circle in a controversial finish that saw Chris Jericho thrown from the top of the structure onto a clearly padded ramp below.

Blood & Guts more closely resembles the classic NWA/Jim Crockett War Games matches than the NXT version, with the cage having a roof, and the match only ending by submission or by someone verbally surrendering.

Both the original pitched Blood & Guts and the eventual match were five-on-five bouts, and it remains to be seen who could be involved in Blood & Guts II.
