Update On Sami Callihan's AEW Status

Sami Callihan is currently working in All Elite Wrestling without a contract and an update has emerged on his status with Tony Khan's promotion.

According to Fightful Select, Callihan is working on AEW production on a trial basis at the moment, but it could lead to more if things between the two sides go well. That trial has been ongoing since Callihan was fired by TNA Wrestling, with recent reports noting the former TNA World Champion has been working behind the scenes in AEW as a producer. This included at the July 8 and July 15 episodes of Dynamite, as well as the July 11 edition of Collision and July 16 Collision tapings.

Callihan had been working behind the scenes in TNA Wrestling since his in-ring retirement in August 2025 until his firing in June 2026 as part of what TNA described as a "workforce reduction." Callihan was a backstage producer and also helped create TNA merchandise prior to his departure, while he had been an active wrestler for TNA across multiple runs since 2017 before his retirement.

During the Zoom call about his firing, Callihan "went off" on TNA management, although he later apologised to TNA President Carlos Silva for his outburst.
