Report: Update On Thunder Rosa's NWA Status

WWE & AEW are reportedly interested in signing her...

After Thunder Rosa dropped the NWA World Women's Championship to Serena Deeb on UWN Primetime Live, Dave Meltzer reported that both AEW and WWE are interested in signing "La Mera Mera."

Meltzer later provided additional details on Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted a source told him three weeks ago that Rosa was dropping the title because she wants to sign with WWE. AEW, however, is under the impression she will continue to appear on Dynamite and work dates for the NWA.

Meltzer said: "So, it was probably about three weeks ago when I was told. When I was told it was like Serena Deeb's gonna win the title because Thunder Rosa wants to go to WWE or is looking to go to WWE. But like I said, she's under contract… The people in AEW are under the impression that she’s gonna… still work dates with them and still work dates with Billy Corgan."

Billy Corgan replied to a fan on Instagram recently and revealed Rosa is under contract with the NWA through 2021. This doesn't necessarily mean she will be with the NWA for the rest of her deal, though, as James Storm previously said the NWA was willing to release him so he could join WWE.

Corgan penned: "No. You have to love press and media reports that don't contact the company she is under contract to but instead listen to someone who has my email address but doesn't write and ask. She's under contract thru 2021 and there's a reason for that (it's called excellence and faith)."
