Update On WWE's Plans For Future Cody Rhodes Vs. CM Punk Match

More on the eventual WWE clash between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are on a collision course in WWE, and whilst the two look likely to clash in the Men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27, this will surely only be the first chapter in their story.

A recent report from Sports Illustrated - later recanted - suggested that Rhodes wouldn’t be ‘finishing the story’ at WrestleMania XL, whilst it was suggested in the wake of their fierce face-to-face promo on the January 22 Raw, and in the wake of Seth Rollins’ injury, that Rhodes vs. Punk could be set for Mania instead.

Fightful Select have since reported that WWE sources believe that Punk vs. Rhodes will happen in a WWE ring “at any given time” but is not on the cards for Mania, with it still assumed that Punk vs. Rollins and either Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns, The Rock vs. Roman Reigns, or Rhodes vs. Reigns vs. Rock are the directions for the men’s main event scene for WrestleMania.

Punk and Rhodes have only ever faced off in singles matches on two occasions, with Punk winning their first clash in September 2008, whilst their second in December 2008 saw Rhodes win by count-out.
