On Monday, it emerged that former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard was missing after he went swimming in the ocean in Venice Beach, California. Gaspard went swimming with his 10-year-old son on Sunday but got caught in a strong rip current. As lifeguards rushed to help them, the former Cryme Tyme member directed rescuers to help his son first. After lifeguards rescued his son, another wave hit Gaspard and he has not been seen since.

TMZ reported that the US Coast Guard suspended its search for Gaspard yesterday morning after an extensive search on Monday. The Los Angeles Police Department, however, confirmed to FOX News they will continue searching for the former WWE Superstar.

After the Coast Guard's search was called off, Gaspard's family released the following statement: "We would like to express our gratitude to the first responders who rescued Aryeh and to the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their continued efforts to help find our beloved Shad. Shad is a fighter, a warrior and a magical soul. We are hoping and praying for his safe return. As a family we thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Please continue to keep sending your positivity and prayers to our beloved Shad."

WWE and Vince McMahon also issued their own statements on social media.

McMahon wrote: "The thoughts of everyone at WWE are with Shad Gaspard’s family during this difficult time."

WWE tweeted: "WWE's thoughts are with the family of Shad Gaspard. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time."
