It's here to stay...

The arrival of Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman in particular suggested WWE could have been on the brink of changing the tone of their weekly shows.

That certainly appeared to be the case on the first Raw after Heyman's announcement, as commentator Corey Graves swore uncensored, and a slightly more "mature" (

or that special kind of 90s crazy)

angle started to play out involving Mike and Maria Kanellis.

Kofi Kingston even gave Samoa Joe 'the finger' on SmackDown Live, a moment that was also left uncensored.

Fans of The Attitude Era shouldn't be getting too excited about that brand of WWE programming coming back to our screens, as Vince McMahon himself has set the record straight during yesterday's WWE Q2 earnings conference call (thanks to

Fightful

for the following transcription): "We’re going to be a bit edgier, but still remain in the PG environment," McMahon said.

"We haven’t come anywhere close, actually, to going into another level, so that’ll be something we do in terms of direction of content: more controversy, better storylines, etcetera. But at the same time we’re not gonna go back to the ‘Attitude Era’, we’re not gonna go back to the blood and guts and things of that nature such as [is] being done perhaps [by] a new potential competitor."
