“It’s Christian” is one of the most infamous calls in pro-wrestling history, with Christian’s return to WWE in 2009 given very little enthusiasm by then ECW announcer Todd Grisham.

Grisham’s call has been routinely lambasted ever since it left his mouth, with Christian’s return to WWE after several years with TNA made a mockery due to a less than rapturous reception of comms.

A wrestling fan on X/Twitter recalled the moment with disdain, with Grisham responding, revealing the delivery was a direct call from Vince McMahon.

“Right before I walked out of the Gorilla position before the show. Vince McMahon called me over and said “When Christian walks out..don’t get excited at all simply say ‘it’s Christian’ and that’s it. Understand me?” Me: “Yes sir,” posted Grisham.

The Tweet drew a response from AEW President Tony Khan - Christian’s current employer - with Khan calling the decision ‘insane’ before later tweeting praise of ‘The Instant Classic’s work.

McMahon’s decision to downplay Christian’s return will come as little shock to long-time wrestling fans, with McMahon reportedly wanting to obscure Christian’s face with a blue dot during WWE broadcasts because the former WWE owner just didn’t like it.
