Vince McMahon Reportedly Nixed WWE's Elias Reboot Plans

Elias hasn't been seen in any capacity since August

Vince McMahon reportedly personally nixed plans for Elias' character reboot in WWE because he looked too similar to 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.

Elias has not been seen on WWE television in a number of months, with the promotion running vignettes of him in a graveyard appearing to 'bury' his former persona. However, the last of these pre-recorded vignettes was seen in August, with no sign of the 34-year-old.

According to WrestleVotes, there was actually no proper end plan for the graveyard vignettes and they were simply done just to move Elias on from his musical, guitar-playing gimmick. There was never a fully-rounded idea for what to do with Elias next and the initial rebranding put him in colourful trunks.

However, the report indicates that when Elias' new character was shown to WWE Chairman McMahon, it was immediately scrapped because he looked too much like Randy Savage.

There are no further indications as to what Elias' next gimmick in WWE could be. Elias went undrafted during the 2021 WWE Draft.
