Vince McMahon To Pay $42.5 Million As Part Of Shareholders Lawsuit

Back in June, it emerged that an agreement in principle on a settlement had been reached in the WWE shareholder lawsuit over the company’s merger with the Endeavor-owned UFC under TKO Group Holdings, which was completed back in September 2023. With the case set to go to trial on June 8, it was revealed that the case had been taken off the court’s schedule after a settlement was reached.

A new filing has provided the number of the payout on the part of Vince McMahon and WWE. Bloomberg Law revealed that McMahon and his insurers are set to pay $42.5 million as part of the suit’s resolution. This is part of the overall figure which is $147.5 million, with WWE & TKO covering $105 million. It is believed that TKO expects $75 million covered by insurance. 

The lawsuit was filed by shareholders back in November of 2023, alleging that Vince McMahon preselected Endeavor for a WWE merger, due to Endeavor’s CEO at the time, Ari Emanuel, assuring that McMahon would still have a future in the company following his 2022 retirement and emergence of sexual misconduct allegations. It was alleged that other proposals and offers from the likes of Liberty Media and KKR were not able to develop in the sale process, leading to shareholders being shortchanged.
