Wade Barrett Is Open To An In-Ring Return "If It Makes Sense To Me"

Wade Barrett would return to face Drew McIntyre in Wembley Stadium

On the September 9 episode of Monday Night RAW, Drew McIntyre targeted commentator Wade Barrett during a promo, leading to the pair facing off with one another, and sparking talk of a potential in-ring return for Barrett. The former five-time Intercontinental Champion has not competed in a match since all the way back in 2016 when he left WWE.

Speaking to AceOdds, Barrett revealed that running events in the UK did sometimes give him the itch to return to the ring, naming Drew McIntyre as his dream opponent and Wembley Stadium being his dream venue for such a match. Whilst a full-time in-ring return isn’t on the cards, he explained that if it makes sense, he would be potentially open to wrestling again.

"If they dangled that in front of me at any point in time, yeah, absolutely. I'm coming back and I'm having that sold-out match at Wembley Stadium. But that is a bit of a pipe dream. It's not something I'm actively pursuing or trying to pursue. I'm fit and healthy, if something came up where they say, 'Okay, there's a match here, would you be interested in doing it?' If it makes sense to me and I was excited to do it, absolutely, I could. The other thing I would say though, is I look at the kind of schedule that Cody Rhodes has, for example, it's a killer at this point in time for me. I'm 43 years old, not too far from 44. The prospect of physically grinding that kind of schedule month after month after month as a full-time guy, it's not for me at this point in time. I've kind of mentally moved on from that.”

Barrett’s final WWE match saw him team with Sheamus in a losing effort to The New Day.
