Wardlow has been absent from AEW programming ever since the early part of 2024, last appearing as part of the Undisputed Kingdom faction and unsuccessfully challenging Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship. Reports about his whereabouts have been sparse, with the only rumblings being that he is recovering from a long-term injury, though there has been very little from the man himself or AEW on this front.

There have been some developments when it comes to Wardlow and his possible future though, as the former TNT Champion applied for the trademark of his name, ‘Wardlow’, with the listing reading the following.

“On May 1, 2025, a trademark application was filed for the name “Wardlow.” The detailed Goods & Services description listed in the application includes: “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler, athlete, and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler, athlete, and sports entertainer; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestler, athlete, and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.”

It isn’t known whether this is Wardlow simply going through the motions to secure rights to his name, or perhaps hinting at protecting his ring name ahead of an exit from AEW.
