Samoa Joe holding down Wheeler Yuta on AEW Dynamite

Samoa Joe was in action in the main event of AEW Dynamite as the former AEW World Champion teamed with his Opps stablemate HOOK against the Death Riders' Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.

The Opps ultimately came out on top, surviving interference from Jon Moxley. Marina Shafir attacked Joe with a chair following the match, while Castagnoli laid out HOOK with a Neutraliser on a chair. After Joe recovered to make the save, Joe challenged the Death Riders to an AEW World Trios Title match at a future date to end Dynamite standing tall.

After Dynamite went off the air, Samoa Joe remained in the ring but he was quickly interrupted by Max Caster, who asked Joe to answer his Best Wrestler Alive open challenge. Joe proceeded to knock Caster down and hit two Muscle Busters to leave Caster lying in the ring.

The Opps kicked off a programme with The Death Riders during the main event of AEW Dynasty, clearing out Jon Moxley's faction. Speculation has suggested their feud will lead into any plans AEW may have for Anarchy in the Arena at Double or Nothing.
