Why Hangman Page Was Absent From AEW TV For Months Revealed

Hangman Page’s long AEW absence explained

Earlier this year, Hangman Page took a four-month sabbatical from All Elite Wrestling, with no reason publicly revealed as to why the former AEW World Champion was absent from the company.

Reports at the time suggested Page’s time off was ‘nothing negative’, with Hangman disappearing after Revolution on March 3, only to return for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in early July. A report from Fightful Select states that Page was taking time off as his wife was pregnant with their second child, with Page having worked an extensive paternity leave clause into his AEW deal. Swerve Strickland said as much on AEW Dynamite.

Page and Swerve are set to resume their feud at All Out, with the two set to finally settle things in a Steel Cage Match. Swerve had earlier told Fightful that the cage match was meant to take place earlier this year during the height of their feud, but was postponed as AEW knew Hangman would be taking an extended leave of absence to support his family.

Since returning to AEW, Hangman has wrestled in Blood & Guts, and was a participant in the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In, before trying to interrupt in Swerve’s AEW World Championship loss to Bryan Danielson in the main event.
