Why Keith Lee Has Been Working WWE Dark Matches Reportedly Revealed

Lee has been working dark bouts ahead of Raw & SmackDown

Keith Lee made his long-awaited return to WWE television in July, but has not been featured on programming in the last couple of weeks.

Since returning, Lee has been defeated by WWE Champion Bobby Lashley on Monday Night Raw while also trading wins with NXT Champion Karrion Kross, but the Limitless One has mainly been seen performing in dark matches ahead of Raw and Friday Night SmackDown in the last few weeks.

According to PWInsider, Lee's dark matches have deliberately been designed to be short bouts that see him destroy and squash his opponents.

This is being done as a way to 'refine' Lee while WWE decide what works best for the former NXT and North American Champion going forward.

Lee has been on the WWE main roster since last summer but missed five months of action at the start of 2021, something the 36-year-old revealed last week was because of a COVID-19 related heart inflammation, which could have proved fatal if Lee overexerted himself.
