Report: WWE Hold Talks About "Offsite Events" Following Success Of MLB Field Of Dreams Game

A return to the Hammerstein Ballroom has been discussed

Major League Baseball's Field of Dreams game has sparked discussions within WWE.

The MLB at Field of Dreams Game between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees was held at a newly-constructed 8,000-seat ballpark near the 'Field of Dreams' movie site in Dyersville, Iowa on August 12. The game proved to be hugely popular in the United States and it was FOX Sports most-viewed regular-season game since 2005, averaging 5.9 million viewers.

With the special attraction game having drawn such high numbers, WWE has held very early talks about running "offsite events" in 2022, according to WrestleVotes. Some of the ideas discussed include Raw on the Roof and a return to the Hammerstein Ballroom, the venue of ECW One Night Stand.

"With the success MLB had w/ the Field of Dreams game last week, WWE has begun very initial discussions about doing a few 'offsite events' in 2022. Some ideas discussed within creative include: RAW on the Roof, Hammerstein Ballroom & more direct festival shows a la Rolling Loud," WrestleVotes tweeted.

WWE recently broadcast a split-venue edition of Friday Night SmackDown on July 23 when the company held a couple of matches at Florida's Rolling Loud Festival.
