Despite being the number one contender to the AEW World Championship, Swerve Strickland was nowhere to be seen on the March 16 Dynamite as Jon Moxley retained the title against Cope.
Whilst many All Elite Wrestling staffers and talent missed the show in Omaha, Nebraska due to extreme weather conditions, a report from Fightful Select suggests that Swerve’s absence was due to his recent eardrum injury, with Strickland kept off the road to recuperate.
Strickland revealed during the post-Revolution press conference on March 9 that he had a perforated eardrum, with it assumed the injury occurred during his hard hitting match with Ricochet on the pay-per-view.
It is unknown if Swerve’s eardrum injury has caused AEW to change any major plans, with it typically taking between three to six weeks for the injury to heal on its own, although in some cases it can take months for the injury to fully heal. Strickland is currently slated to face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at Dynasty on April 6.
