All Elite Wrestling are set to host their first ever Maximum Carnage specials of Dynamite and Collision, with the shows slated to air on January 15 and 18 respectively, at Warner Bros. Discovery’s request.
Recent reports suggested that WBD asked AEW to ‘ramp up’ the upcoming double taping in Cincinnati, Ohio, to which AEW obliged by branding the shows under the ‘Maximum Carnage’ tagline. A report from Fightful Select suggests that WBD had placed emphasis on these shows in particular as they fall on important dates with regards to ad sales, with WBD wanting AEW to put some more ‘power’ into the event.
Whilst it’s unlikely that Eddie Brock and Cletus Kasady will be appearing on the shows, Kenny Omega will likely be at the tapings after ‘The Cleaner’s return to in-ring competition at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5. Omega will make his official return to AEW TV on the January 8 edition of Dynamite.
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will be in action during Maximum Carnage, with the ‘Death Rider’ set to put his title on the line against the winner of the January 8 AEW Casino Gauntlet match.
