Will Ospreay Regains IWGP United States Title At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Avenging his Wrestle Kingdom 17 loss

Will Ospreay is once again the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, after defeating Kenny Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday night in Toronto.

At the conclusion of a chaotic and blood-soaked match that went close to 40 minutes, Ospreay finished Omega off with a Tiger Driver '91, followed by a Hidden Blade, and then the Stormbreaker for the win.

Ospreay previously used Don Callis' screwdriver to escape Omega's One Winged Angel, after which he tried to finish with his Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker, but Omega got his foot on the ropes. Ospreay also tried to finish with his own One Winged Angel at one point, but Omega emphatically kicked out on one and began firing up.

Callis was previously ejected from ringside for tripping Omega, but returned late in the bout anyway, attempting to distract Omega at critical moments.

With the win, Ospreay becomes IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion for the second time. He previously reigned with the title for 206 days from June 12, 2022 to January 4, 2023.

Omega's reign ends at 172 days. He won the title from Ospreay at WrestleKingdom 17 on January 4.
