Will Ospreay Reveals Original Planned Finish Of Kenny Omega Main Event Was Scrapped After Spot Was Used Earlier At AEW All In 2026

Will Ospreay has revealed his match of the year contender with Kenny Omega in the main event of AEW All In was actually their plan B after the original plan was scrapped due to a wrestler utilising what they had planned earlier in the show.

After being asked by Chris Van Vliet if the Wembley Stadium match lived up to his expectations, Ospreay replied:

"Yeah, so much, man. It was just wild, just because going into it, I had really no ideas. I had feelings that I wanted to feel, but I didn't know how to relay that in terms of the match storytelling. It was only when me and Kenny sat down and started talking about stuff, and then we just came together, and it was just like idea, flow and idea, flow. Honestly, I'd love to be able to tell you guys that when we were hours from going on, and we found out that some people did stuff that we wanted to do in our match. So then it put us under even more pressure to try and change things around and try and fit it in within our story. It's no one's fault. Things happen. I don't blame anyone in that situation, but it was just as frustrating as it was. What we came up with, what our plan B was, was way, way, way better. So, I was dead happy with that."

Ospreay has revealed he and Omega finalised their alternative plan with only two or three matches to go before the main event was due to take place.

"Kind of no. It was maybe two or three matches before. So, we still had time on our hands, but I think a lot of it was just because we were putting so much pressure on ourselves, and we were just worried because obviously when you do these type of shows, you're always communicating with the other wrestlers. But because it was a stadium, it's so hard to have that kind of communication with everybody. So naturally, things will happen, and we just had faith that nothing else was going to happen that would have stepped on our toes, and thankfully no one did. But man, what we were able to come up with and what we were able to do, I couldn't have done that with anybody. There were so many other alternative options for that main event than what it could have been. But I knew if this was my moment, I didn't want to read anybody else's script. I wanted it to be myself and Kenny. I really wanted that," Ospreay added.

That plan B, though, was ultimately the closing sequence of the main event which saw Kenny Omega twice kick out at one before finally succumbing to a final Hidden Blade, with Ospreay kicking out of the One Winged Angel shortly beforehand.

"Yeah, we labelled it plan B because our plan A got ruined because somebody done it in their match. So plan B was One Winged Angel, kick out at one, Stormbreaker, kick out at one, then finish. I was proud of that one, but being honest, the thing that will never leave me ever, Kenny allowing me to kick out of the One Winged Angel. The significance and the importance behind that move cannot be understated. He has protected that move for 14 years. The only person to ever kick out of it was Ibushi, who was his long-time tag partner. The fact that he allowed me, and you think about the historical feuds that he's had; Okada, Tana, Ibushi, Hangman, and he saved it for me. That’s like one of the biggest honours and the biggest accomplishments I think I’ve ever been given as a performer, as a wrestler," Ospreay noted.
