Women's Title Match Reportedly Pulled From September 14 WWE NXT

Gonzalez had been advertised as defending the belt against Franky Monet

The planned NXT Women's Championship match between Raquel Gonzalez and Franky Monet will reportedly not be happening, as advertised, on this week's episode of NXT.

WWE announced last week that Monet would get an opportunity to win the NXT Women's Title form Gonzalez on the 14 September episode of NXT, an evening where WWE's third brand would also get a relaunch and a new colour scheme.

However, Fightful Select is reporting that the planned NXT Women's Championship bout will now not be taking place on the return to live television for NXT.

No reason has yet been confirmed as to why the advertised Championship match will not be taking place, but the report goes on to say that WWE was aware of the change to Tuesday's show on Monday morning.

With NXT having to pivot and crown a new NXT Champion on this week's show, following Samoa Joe's injury and subsequent relinquishing of the Title, it is hypothetically possible that WWE determined that they did not want two huge Championship matches on the same show.

Gonzalez has been NXT Women's Champion since defeating Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April, and most recently successfully defended it against former friend Dakota Kai.
