WWE & AEW Rumours: TNA Invasion Of NXT, Future Plans For Wrestlepalooza

A new invasion angle looks set to be on the horizon, while WWE's future plans for Wrestlepalooza have been revealed. There is also an update on how promos from Monday Night Raw were scripted.

WWE and AEW rumours for Wednesday, September 17, 2025:

TNA Invasion Of WWE NXT Coming Soon? 

WWE NXT and TNA have been working together since May 2024 and on a formal basis since the beginning of 2025. The working relationship has been very much dominated by NXT, with Jacy Jayne previously holding the TNA Knockouts World Championship, while Trick Williams is the reigning TNA World Champion.

A storyline of TNA wrestlers looking to reclaim the promotion's honour and the TNA World Title has played out since Williams won the belt from Joe Hendry at WWE NXT Battleground in May.

The storyline looks set to lead to a TNA invasion of WWE NXT as several TNA talents, including Mike Santana, Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, Steph De Lander, McKenzie Mitchell, Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, and Santino Marella have all expressed their anger on social media after it was announced Trick Williams would face NXT Champion Oba Femi in a Title vs. Title match on next week's NXT.

Many assume the storyline will lead to a TNA invasion of NXT, and Cory Hays of BodySlam has hinted as much too, tweeting a photo of the logo for WWE's Invasion pay-per-view from 2001.

Future Plans For WWE Wrestlepalooza Revealed

Wrestlepalooza looks set to be utilised as a WrestleMania-esque event by WWE for the foreseeable future.

The upcoming show on September 20 has several major matches scheduled for the event, including AJ Lee & CM Punk vs. Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.

It was recently announced that WWE WrestleMania 43 will be the first WrestleMania outside of North America as the show will be held in Saudi Arabia. Fightful Select has reported that WrestleMania in the Middle East was a big reason behind WWE pushing Wrestlepalooza so prominently, and the former ECW show is internally viewed as an event that can fill the gap in future years if WrestleMania is held outside of North America.

Fightful also noted that one WWE source believed the idea to use Wrestlepalooza was likely a Nick Khan idea as the WWE president was a big fan of ECW in his younger years.

What Was Scripted & What Was Not On This Week's WWE Raw Revealed

The go-home edition of Monday Night Raw before Wrestlepalooza was held on September 15. Fightful Select has reported the working title of the show was "Partners" within WWE.

CM Punk, AJ Lee, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins continued the build to their mixed tag team match with a promo segment, and Fightful noted the segment only had bullet points on internal rundowns, while other elements of the show were fully scripted.

This included John Cena's promo about Brock Lesnar ahead of their Wrestlepalooza match, with Cena's segment being scripted verbatim outside of a line about playing offensive line at Springfield College.
