WWE & Gabe Sapolsky Removed From Candy Cartwright Lawsuit

Riddle's motion to dismiss was denied

Mike Johnson of PWInsider first reported that WWE Creative Consultant Gabe Sapolsky and WWE were removed as defendants in the Candy Cartwright (Samantha Tavel) lawsuit by Judge Manish S. Shah in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois yesterday.

Cartwright filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against WWE, Sapolsky, WWE Superstar Riddle (Matt Riddle) and EVOLVE in October 2020. Within the lawsuit, Tavel alleged Riddle sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions from April 2017 to January 2020. Three incidents are cited within the lawsuit, one in April 2017, a second on May 19, 2018, and a third on January 31, 2020. Riddle's motion to dismiss the lawsuit was denied by the court.

WWE and Sapolsky were removed as defendants after the court ruled Cartwright failed to argue that the court held jurisdiction over them and couldn't prove they were connected to her allegations against Matt Riddle.

Sapolsky filed to dismiss proceedings against him back on January 8, 2021, and cited multiple reasons at the time.

As Riddle's motion to dismiss was denied, Samantha Tavel's lawsuit against him and EVOLVE will continue.
