WWE & Netflix Working On Vince McMahon Documentary

Following the success of the Andre the Giant documentary...

There has been a resurgence in professional wrestling documentaries over the past few years. Vice has broadcast two seasons of Dark Side Of The Ring in 2019 and 2020 and a third season was recently ordered. HBO also aired a documentary on the life of Andre the Giant in 2018.

Netflix has now joined Vice and HBO in producing a wrestling documentary. WWE Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan revealed during the Q3 2020 earnings call that WWE has sold a multi-part documentary on the life of Vince McMahon to the streaming service. It will be one of the highest budgeted documentaries in Netflix history.

Bill Simmons, who previously worked on the Andre the Giant documentary, will be an executive producer on the series. Director of Fyre Chris Smith will direct and produce the documentary. WWE Studios will also be producers.

Khan said: "With that said, we've sold a multi-part documentary to Netflix on the life of none other than our very own Vince McMahon. By groundbreaking, I mean one of the highest budgeted docs in Netflix's history. Bill Simmons, as previously mentioned, will executive produce. Chris Smith, the amazing director of Netflix's Fyre Festival documentary will direct and produce alongside WWE Studios."
