WWE & NXT Women's Tag Team Championships To Be Unified

Unification match set for NXT and WWE Women's Tag Team Titles

The state of the women’s tag team division across both NXT and WWE’s main roster has been up in the air since the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn received their call-up in the 2023 WWE draft.

However, things will be cleared up soon as it has been announced that both the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships will be unified. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler confronted Fyre and Dawn on the June 9 episode of SmackDown, with Baszler stating that the NXT titles were only created because of Baszler herself (though Baszler had left NXT a whole year prior, but you know, details). Rousey followed this up by saying the division isn’t big enough for two sets of champions, so a challenge to unify the belts was laid out and instantly accepted.

A brawl broke out between the two sets of titleholders, with Fyre and Dawn getting the early advantage, sending Rousey and Baszler running. It was later made official that the unification match will be taking place in two weeks time on the June 23 edition of SmackDown.
