WWE Announces "Superstar Spectacle" For India

Coming later this month...

WWE announced on Saturday through its WWE India social media outlets an upcoming special entitled Superstar Spectacle, writing, "Breaking Now: The first-ever #WWESuperstarSpectacle is coming soon. #StayTuned #India"

An advertisement for WWE Superstar Spectacle notes that it will air on India's Sony Sports Network on Tuesday, January 26 (which happens to be Republic Day in India).

Post Wrestling reported in December that WWE set a taping date of Friday, January 22 for the India special. Reports at the time indicated that it was the launch of an "NXT India" brand.

The special will be taped in Florida. Post also noted that the original plan for the special was to have an eight-man elimination tournament.

The then-unnamed India special was first mentioned on WWE's quarterly financial call in October. WWE president Nick Khan said WWE was working with Sony Pictures Network India for a 2021 event. The event will air on Sony platforms throughout India, and would also be distributed in the United States.

In March, WWE announced a five-year extension of their relationship with Sony Pictures Network India.
