Kevin Owens has very much presented himself as an outcast being held down by the WWE system during his feud with Cody Rhodes over the Undisputed WWE Championship to the point Owens has rarely entered the arena and has spent much of his time cutting promos from a car.

This continued on the December 6 edition of SmackDown as Michael Cole entered Owens' car for their scheduled sit-down interview, during which KO claimed Cole wouldn't have done an unbiased interview as the SmackDown commentator is the "number one Cody Rhodes fanboy." Cole then pointed out that The Usos and Sami Zayn also sided with Roman Reigns, with KO hinting at future issues with Zayn by saying "trust me, we're going to cross that bridge when it comes to it." The segment came to an end after Cole told Owens he was the problem, at which point the former Universal Champion told Cole to get out of his rental car.

Friday's promo and other segments carried out from Owens' car have been well received within WWE, according to Fightful Select.

Owens will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14. Their programme is heavily inspired by a 2012 feud in Ring of Honor which ended with Kevin Steen defeating Davey Richards for the ROH World Title at Border Wars. Whether Owens is planned to defeat Cody Rhodes for WWE's top belt is unknown.
