WWE carried out a surprising release last week which has seen on-screen personality Matt Camp exit the company, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

Camp's release was met with shock within WWE. There is no word on why the company decided to fire Matt Camp and there has been no announcement internally about the personality's exit.

Matt Camp had been signed with WWE since September 2019 and he was a regular on WWE's The Bump since the show was launched. He hadn't missed a single episode until his release last week. Outside of The Bump, Camp was utilised on Raw Talk and SmackDown Lowdown on the WWE Network and Peacock, as well as on pay-per-view kickoff shows. WWE compilation specials would also feature Camp.

PWInsider noted Camp "was absolutely seen as a reliable, no drama workhorse for the company and someone that was knowledgeable about the product, able to speak about the history off the top of his head and nail it factually every time."

Prior to joining WWE, Matt Camp was the lead announcer for House of Hardcore and the lead fantasy football analyst for Bleacher Report.

Camp is the second WWE release of 2024 following Kevin Patrick's firing in January.
