WWE Changes Ludwig Kaiser's In-Ring Name

Another name change for the former Marcel Barthel

Marcel Barthel's new name on the main roster didn't last very long.

The former NXT Tag Team Champion debuted on Friday Night SmackDown as 'Ludwig Kaiser' following WrestleMania 38 and the former Imperium member has served as Gunther's mouthpiece in recent weeks.

Kaiser has received a minor alteration to his in-ring name, though, and the 31-year-old's forename has been changed from 'Ludwig' to 'Ludvig' on his WWE.com profile.

There is no word on why WWE decided to alter Kaiser's name.

Speaking about Marcel Barthel's new name, Gunther previously revealed Kaiser was inspired by a German promoter named Gustle Kaiser, who worked in the industry from 1938 until 1976.

Gunther said: "Yes, but not Franz Beckenbauer (laughs). Marcel has Gustl Kaiser in mind, a legendary and very influential German promoter from the time when his father Axel Dieter was still active as a professional wrestler. Marcel had a few names to choose from and he then chose it because it sounds good and has history. That suits us."
