WWE’s approach to live events has chopped and changed under the leadership of TKO, with at first the scheduling of house shows being decreased massively, with TKO’s Mark Shapiro openly talking about further plans to reduce house shows. However, 2026 has seen a big change with the schedule expanding once again for these events, and this has come about for several reasons.
Earlier this year, it was noted that one of the key reasons for expanding the house show schedule was to hand talent more reps in the ring, with the goal being to give younger talent more time in front of an audience. The financial success of recent house shows was also touted as a reason for the expansion. A new report has noted that WWE is looking to make even more usage out of live events going forwards.
According to Fightful Select, it is stated that WWE is hoping to create viral moments from live events, even if it is just basic interactions between members of the roster. Whether the goal is to drive up social media hits or draw people in to attending the shows hasn’t been revealed, but it is clear that WWE has been attempting to create some talking points with the likes of Danhausen, who has been engaging with the likes of Kevin Owens, CM Punk, and Cody Rhodes on recent house shows.
