WWE are reportedly interested in signing Jeff Cobb amid uncertainty over the New Japan Pro-Wrestling powerhouse’s future.
It has been suggested the United Empire member is already listed on WWE’s internal roster, however a report from Fightful Select cannot confirm if this is true, but did confirm that WWE are interested in signing Cobb.
Cobb’s standing in NJPW has noticeably fallen in recent times, with Cobb himself expressing frustration after a recent loss, bemoaning the fact that “Long gone are the days when I went 8-0 in the G1. Now I can’t even break .500. Where does that leave Jeff Cobb? Maybe it’s time to take my bags and go somewhere else. I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Outside of NJPW, Cobb has made several appearances for All Elite Wrestling - last appearing on a May 2024 episode of Dynamite - however Fightful’s report suggests that Cobb is not expected to join AEW should he formally exit New Japan.
Cobb is a former two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, one-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and one-time NJPW World Television Champion in NJPW. Cobb is also a former PWG World Champion, ROH World Television Champion, and Lucha Underground Champion, amongst various other accolades.
