Rey Fenix is expected to land in WWE following his release from All Elite Wrestling in early March and an update on WWE's plans for the former AEW International Champion has emerged.
According to WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio, Fenix has either agreed to a deal in principle with WWE or a deal is on the verge of being completed. When he does debut on WWE TV, Fenix will be in a tag team with his real-life brother Penta and they will be presented as the Lucha Brothers.
"According to sources, the impending debut of Rey Fenix is indeed happening as his name has begun to resurface on marketing documents once again. That source confirms that a deal between Fenix and the company has either been agreed to in principle or is on the verge of completion as of this writing...We're told WWE never had any indications Rey Fenix wouldn't be joining as it was 'just a matter of time'. We can also confirm WWE is planning on presenting the team of Penta and Fenix as the Lucha Brothers," WrestleVotes said.
Rey Fenix and Penta have wrestled together as the Lucha Brothers/Lucha Bros for several years, including for the likes of TNA, AAA, and AEW. Penta signed with WWE in late 2024 following his own AEW exit and he made his debut on the January 13 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Rey Fenix has been expected to sign with WWE for months after it emerged that he and Penta had talks with WWE in the Summer of 2024 while still under contract with AEW. This resulted in injury time being added to the Lucha Bros' AEW deals but the promotion ultimately opted to release Fenix months before his contract was set to expire. Fenix may have agreed to a non-disparagement clause as part of his AEW release.
