WWE’s first ever premium live event in France was a resounding success, with Backlash in Lyon being the host to one of the most passionate and vocal crowds in WWE history.

The crowd notably chanted for AJ Styles during the SmackDown taping on May 10, and during his Backlash main event against Cody Rhodes, and the crowd also gave Jey Uso a heroes welcome during both shows.

A report from Fightful Select suggests that WWE are hoping to replicate the reaction Uso got on a more consistent basis going forward, with the fans at SmackDown and Backlash holding their phones with the torch on whilst doing Uso’s signature ‘YEET’ taunt during his entrance.

The report suggests that WWE will be ‘heavily pushing’ future crowds into replicating the entrance, with crowd lighting expected to be dimmed for Uso’s entrance going forward. WWE are also planning on continuing to show examples of Jey’s theme being played ‘in the mainstream’ during future television broadcasts.

Uso defeated Finn Balor in a dark match during the SmackDown tapings, and would go on to lose to World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at Backlash.
