As seen on last night’s NXT, The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will return in two weeks time (January 13).

This will be the sixth iteration of the tournament which has been held annually since 2015, bar a year off in 2017. The winners of the 2021 tournament will take home The Dusty Cup, and will receive a future shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The full list of teams involved and the tournament brackets are to be revealed on next week’s NXT on January 6, during the New Year’s Evil episode. So far, Adam Cole & Roderick Strong of The Undisputed Era have been announced for the tournament.

Past winners of the Dusty Classic include Finn Bálor & Samoa Joe, The Authors of Pain, Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly, and Aleister Black & Ricochet.

The 2020 tournament was won by Pete Dunne & Matt Riddle, who defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans in the finals. It was during The Grizzled Young Veterans victory over Breezango on last night’s NXT that commentary announced the 2021 tournament.
