WWE NXT ended with a cliffhanger ending heavily inspired by The Sopranos on Tuesday night.

The show from the WWE Performance Center saw Tony D'Angelo defeat his former D'Angelo family stablemates in Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino in a Triple Threat match. In the final moments of NXT, the show cut to Tony D'Angelo at a restaurant table. As the WWE mobster was about to eat, an unseen figure appeared to D'Angelo's left and the show cut to black as Tony D looked up.

The ending was reminiscent of the famous ending of The Sopranos, with the show cutting to black as the front door opened in a diner where Tony Soprano was eating with his family. Soprano's fate is not confirmed, but the consensus is the show ended just moments before the mobster was killed.

WWE's future plans for Tony D'Angelo are unknown, but the cliffhanger could lead to a main roster call-up for D'Angelo, with reports back in April noting that Tony D was under consideration for a move to Raw or SmackDown.

Tony D'Angelo debuted on WWE NXT back in October 2021 as part of the 2.0 rebrand. He is a former NXT North American Champion, two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, and one-time NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
