NXT wasted no time in addressing the show-closing angle from NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day as Kyle O'Reilly marched to the ring to start last night's episode. The former tag team champion said he'd been replaying the events of Sunday over and over in his head but he just couldn't make sense of what happened. The Undisputed ERA was supposed to be different from every other group in the industry, he said, but Adam Cole had ruined it for everyone. O'Reilly then admitted Cole was still his brother and he was, therefore, willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he demanded the former NXT Champion come to the ring to explain what happened on Sunday.

The Undisputed ERA's music immediately played over the titantron, but it was Roderick Strong who made his way inside the Capitol Wrestling Center. The Master Of The Backbreaker initially tried to defend Cole, but O'Reilly screamed that he needed the man himself to explain what happened, not Roddy. O'Reilly then told his friend not to get in the ring because he didn't know who he could trust before he once again demanded that Cole come to the ring.

O'Reilly still had no luck, though, as Finn Balor was the next person to head to the stage. The Prince said he knew he shouldn't have accepted O'Reilly's hand on Sunday and questioned if Kyle and Roddy had something to do with Cole's attack. The three men then briefly bickered before Pete Dunne, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan appeared from out of nowhere and beat them down to end the segment.

William Regal booked a six-man tag team match for the main event following the opening segment and both teams battled back and forth for 11 minutes to close out the show. The match didn't end how the babyfaces would have wanted, though.

In the closing stages, Danny Burch tried to bring the NXT Title into the ring and ended up in a tug of war with the official in the corner. While this was going on, Balor connected with a Shotgun Dropkick to Dunne who subsequently flew into the referee and knocked him unconscious. The NXT Champion tried to press on and connect with the Coup De Grace but Adam Cole suddenly charged to the ring and pushed The Prince off the top rope.

The former NXT Champion then turned his attention to Kyle O'Reilly and Suplexed his longtime friend on the steel steps, putting him out of commission for the remainder of the match. Cole scampered backstage while the action continued in the ring, but it all went downhill for Balor after he inadvertently caught Strong with a Pele Kick and left himself open for Pete Dunne to appear from out of nowhere and connect with the Bitter End just as the referee regained consciousness. The Bruiserweight then covered the NXT Champion to pick up the win for his team.

While Adam Cole appeared to have done enough already, he appeared again after the bell and Superkicked Balor. The leader of The Undisputed ERA then stared at a fallen O'Reilly on the outside before he held the NXT Championship aloft as the show went off the air.

The storyline between The Way and Dexter Lumis also continued on last night's show during Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell. Johnny Gargano joined the commentary team for the match and Austin Theory's absence dominated the discussion before the broadcast suddenly cut backstage and showed a white van in the parking lot. The NXT North American Champion immediately charged backstage and ecstatically reappeared on the ramp a few minutes later with Austin Theory. Candice LeRae was so happy to see Theory she ended up costing her team the match as she left Indi Hartwell easy prey for a roll-up from Ember Moon.

Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax returned to NXT later in the show during the Dusty Cup trophy presentation. MSK and Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez announced they will challenge for the tag team championships on March 3 and the reigning Women's Tag Team Champions then headed to the ring and had an awkward back and forth with Kai and Gonzalez while MSK and Beth Phoenix ate popcorn in the corner.

Elsewhere on the show, Isaiah "Swerve" Scott continued his descent into heeldom and attacked Leon Ruff following his defeat to the former NXT North American Champion, Kushida defeated Tyler Rust and Zoey Stark put in an impressive display in her win over Valentina Feroz. Pat McAfee also appeared in a pre-taped promo to gloat about Adam Cole's betrayal of The Undisputed ERA. He is currently accepting apologies at #PatWasRight.

In another match on the show, Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter def. Aliyah & Jessi Kamea. Xia Li and Boa then headed to the ring after the bell and the transformed Li marked Catanzaro before promising to purge her next week. Santos Escobar vs. Karrion Kross will also take place on next week's show or the former King Cuerno will be stripped of the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. The bout was originally scheduled for last night's show but Escobar decided not to enter the Capitol Wrestling Center and drove home instead.
