WWE NXT Heatwave 2024 to feature NXT Title match
Summer is here, and NXT are looking ahead to Heatwave on July 7, with the NXT Championship match for the show confirmed on the June 18 edition of NXT TV.
NXT opened with a 25-man Battle Royal for a shot at NXT Champion Trick Williams, with the best of NXT and TNA competing for a shot at the gold. It eventually boiled down to Je’Von Evans, Shawn Spears, Dragon Lee and TNA’s Frankie Kazarian, and after Lee and Kaz were eliminated, Evans seized his opportunity to dump out Spears and book his spot at Heatwave.
But unfortunately for Je’Von it’s not as straightforward as that, as Ethan Page complained to NXT GM Ava about his elimination from the battle royal… because it never happened. Page then wrestled Evans in the main event of NXT and got the win with an Ego’s Edge. Although the shot at Trick Williams wasn’t on the line, ‘All Ego’ will surely feel he has also earned the right for another chance at the gold at Heatwave.
After Page defeated Evans, Williams entered the ring after observing the bout from the commentary desk to brawl with Page, before Shawn Spears entered the fray. Evans would take down all three men from the top rope, and NXT ended with all four adversaries flat out with the NXT Championship in the middle.
