WWE Officially Announces Return To Madison Square Garden

WWE is heading back to the famous arena

WWE has officially announced their return to Madison Square Garden

Reports in recent weeks noted WWE would be returning to the famous arena on September 10, 2021, for an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which WWE has now confirmed. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday, July 9 at 10 am ET.

The announcement of WWE's return comes shortly after Foo Fighters played the venue in front of a full capacity crowd on June 20. New York Rangers and New York Knicks games have also taken place at the Garden in recent months.

The September 10 show will be WWE's first event at MSG since a December 2019 house show. That live event is most memorable for a rare house show title change as Andrade defeated Rey Mysterio to capture the United States Championship.

WWE initially planned to return to Madison Square Garden in March 2020. That show was postponed and then cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though. The traditional December 26 house show also did not take place.
