WWE are reportedly looking to rebuild their main roster tag team divisions and those plans will see the company focus upon the current crop of talent signed to the roster.

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, WWE reportedly don't hold much of an interest in tag teams outside of the company at the moment, but newly-made teams on TV like The Miz and Kit Wilson will remain as tag teams. It is also likely a few teams from NXT will be called up to the main roster in order to bolster the tag team divisions.

The report comes after False Finish claimed WWE were trying to rebuild the tag team division from within, while also looking at possibly bringing in some new teams from outside of the organisation. Ibou of Self Made, meanwhile, claimed WWE were looking at a bunch of teams "from different companies all around the world."

One tag team that has been speculated upon is the return of Enzo Amore and Big Cass (AKA Big Bill), with reports noting that Amore was at the WWE Performance Center on Tuesday, while Big Bill's AEW deal as of April was believed to be expiring at the end of May or the beginning of June.

WWE's tag team divisions across Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown have been greatly diminished since the summer of 2025 due to departures and releases from the company. Of the six tag teams who competed for the WWE Tag Team Titles in The Wyatt Sicks, Andrade & Rey Fenix, #DIY, Fraxiom, the Motor City Machine Guns, and the Street Profits, only Fraxiom and the Street Profits are still with the company. Andrade was released by WWE in September 2025, while the Motor City Machine Guns and the Wyatt Sicks were let go following WrestleMania 42 along with one of WWE's biggest-ever tag teams in the New Day. Tommaso Ciampa of #DIY exited WWE in early 2026 upon the expiration of his contract and he joined AEW soon after.

Current main roster tag teams signed to WWE are WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest & R-Truth, World Tag Team Champions Logan Paul & Austin Theory, the Usos, the Street Profits, Fraxiom, the Creed Brothers, Los Americanos, the War Raiders (currently working AAA), Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde, Angel & Berto, The Miz & Kit Wilson, and Otis & Akira Tozawa.
