WWE have provided a medical update on Sir Kofi Kingston following the November 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Kofi's New Day faction-mate King Xavier Woods defeated Jimmy Uso in a Bend The Knee Match on last week's SmackDown. Before Jimmy could kneel, though, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns swarmed the ring for a beatdown.

Kofi tried to assist Woods but he found himself writhing around on the mat in agony following a Superkick to the back of his knee from Jey as King Xavier watched on.

In an update, WWE announced that Kofi has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his knee after being evaluated. The company also questioned Kingston's status for the November 12 episode of SmackDown, a show that will be headlined by Roman Reigns vs. King Xavier Woods.

Kingston is a new member of the SmackDown roster, having been moved to the blue brand with Woods during the latest WWE Draft. Their fellow New Day stable-mate Big E remained on Monday Night Raw, however, splitting up the faction for the second year in a row.
