WWE 'Queen Of The Ring' Could Be Happening In 2019

WWE looking to add a second all-women's event to their calendar...

It appears that WWE Evolution - the company's first-ever, historic, all women's pay-per-view - was so much of a success that more all-female events could be happening next year.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer claims that an idea being talked about behind the scenes in WWE is a Queen of the Ring tournament involving the ladies on the main roster. Here's the quote from this week's Newsletter in full: "An idea being talked about for 2019 would be a Queen of the Ring tournament with the main roster women.

"At this point it’s just an idea thrown around but they are looking for ideas for a second all women’s PPV show next year. With how well the first one was received, one would think they’d want to do at least one a year."

So while it isn't an iron-clad idea at the moment, it appears that WWE are definitely looking to add more all-women's events to their calendar with another tournament-based show one of the options.

Currently, alongside Evolution, WWE's only other all-female content is the Mae Young Classic - with two tournaments taking place since the summer of 2017. You would imagine the final of a third prospective tournament would take place at Evolution once more, with 'WWE Queen of the Ring' taking place earlier into the year.

Of course, the inspiration for this potential avenue comes from King of the Ring, a once iconic tournament in WWE that was held annually from 1985-2002, and then again in 2008, 2010, and as a Network Special in 2015.
