WWE Raw Results - August 9, 2021

WWE returned to the now ThunderDome-less Amway Center in Orlando, Florida for the August 9, 2021, edition of Monday Night Raw as the red brand continued to build to SummerSlam. 

After almost two months away, Randy Orton returned to WWE TV on this week's show and opened the broadcast. The Viper was quickly joined by Riddle inside the squared circle and Orton told The Original Bro that he didn't want to team with him anymore. This only led to an interruption from AJ Styles and Omos, though, and set up a main event match between The Phenomenal One and Orton. 

Riddle tried to convince Randy to resume their tag team throughout the broadcast and this played into the main event as the former NXT Tag Team Champion took out Omos at ringside. This ultimately distracted AJ Styles and allowed Orton to connect with an RKO from out of nowhere for the victory. 

Following the match, Orton and Riddle hugged in the centre of the ring but it was all seemingly a ruse as The Viper dropped his friend with an RKO as Raw went off the air. 

Bobby Lashley also continued the build to SummerSlam's WWE Championship Match in Goldberg's absence and The All Mighty made it clear that he will annihilate the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion and end his career. 

Elsewhere on the show, Karrion Kross exacted revenge on Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre defeated SmackDown's Baron Corbin and Sheamus accepted Damian Priest's challenge to a United States Championship Match at SummerSlam.
