AEW's Jim Ross Praises Pat McAfee For WWE SmackDown Commentary

McAfee has been a revelation behind the desk for WWE

Jim Ross has lauded the performance of Pat McAfee at the Friday Night SmackDown commentary table since joining WWE full-time as an analyst.

McAfee has worked on SmackDown alongside Michael Cole since April, joining following WrestleMania 37, and has been widely praised for his enthusiasm and excitement for the product at ringside.

McAfee's efforts have even brought even more out of lead announcer Cole, earning both of them plaudits, and AEW's JR is enjoying what he's hearing from the relatively new commentator.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, he said: "I like it (Pat McAfee commentating on SmackDown). I think he's a breath of fresh air. He's contemporary, he fits in the scheme of things very well, he's a guy that's fun, respects the wrestling business. He doesn't sh*t on it, he doesn't look down his nose at it or 'talk down to me' type thing to the audience. I think he's done a great job.

"He's a good hire. I know Cole handles the contracts of the announcers, I'm assuming that includes Pat. So, give Michael Cole some credit for Pat McAfee being on that show (on) Friday night."
