WWE Raw Results - December 6, 2021

2 title matches, a steel cage and more

WWE headed to the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee for the December 6, 2021, edition of Monday Night Raw as the company continued to build to the Day 1 pay-per-view.

WWE opened the show with the previously announced Steel Cage Match between WWE Champion Big E and Kevin Owens.

Owens appeared to have the match won down the stretch as he looked to escape the cage but Seth Rollins, who was sat at ringside, alerted Big E to his imminent loss and The Powerhouse Of Positivity suddenly rose from the ashes and pulled KO down from the top of the cage.

Things only went from bad to worse for Owens from there as Big E decked him with a super Big Ending from the middle rope. The WWE Champion then crawled for the door and he fended off a brief attack from Owens and escaped the cage to win the match.

Big E had no time to celebrate, though, as he was suddenly attacked from behind by Seth Rollins. The Architect then turned his attention to Owens and was about to connect with a Stomp before Big E fired back with a Belly To Belly Suplex to Seth and one more Big Ending to Owens.

Big E still couldn't celebrate, though, as Bobby Lashley ran down to the ring during the commercial break and laid out all three men, with MVP later saying that The All Mighty was simply dishing out the consequences to Big E, Rollins and Owens for daring to have a WWE Title match without Big Bobby.

The Raw Women's Championship was defended in the main event as Becky Lynch put the gold on the line against Liv Morgan.

WWE put over Morgan's valiant effort but Liv was unable to get the job done and Lynch countered into an O'Connor Roll and grabbed a handful of ropes for the 1-2-3.

A four-team tournament was also spread throughout Raw,  or should I say an RK-Bro-nament, to determine a new number one contender for the Raw Tag Team Championship.

Omos & AJ Styles took on The Street Profits in the opening match of the tournament and the heel team suffered a loss after Omos suddenly turned into a giant oath. He first tagged himself into the match just as AJ Styles was about to deck Montez Ford with a Phenomenal Forearm. Omos then attacked Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins outside of the ring and the big man failed to realise he had been counted out.

Clearly disgruntled by his tag team partner's idiotic actions, Styles told Omos to listen to him after the match which only angered the Personal Colossus, who proceeded to storm up the ramp.

In the other match of the tournament, Dominik and Rey Mysterio defeated Alpha Academy. The Street Profits will face The Mysterios in the final next week.

Another match was added to the Day 1 pay-per-view elsewhere on Raw following Edge's appearance on Miz TV.

Both men spoke about their early days in the business in a terrific segment, with Miz claiming that the locker room, including Edge, were mean to him to protect their own spots. Edge, of course, took offence to The A-Lister's accusations and brought up the time he took him aside backstage to tell him he did indeed have 'it', yet all Miz did was brush him off. The 11-time world champion then noted he went through the exact same things as 'Mike' but the big difference between them was Edge didn't think he was better than everyone else in the locker room.

This led to Miz issuing the challenge to Edge for Day 1, which The Rated-R Superstar accepted. Edge then psyched Miz out and ended the segment standing tall after Miz fell on his ass.

Vince McMahon's mentorship of Austin Theory also continued on Raw and the former EVOLVE Champion looked to prove himself to the boss, laying out Finn Balor after The Prince's win over T-Bar.
