Lots of Tag Team Turmoil

WWE visited FTX Arena in Miami, Florida for the September 6, 2021, episode of Monday Night Raw as the company continued the build to the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

This week's edition of Raw was largely dominated by a Tag Team Turmoil Match to determine RK-Bro's next challengers for the Raw Tag Team Championship and WWE dedicated one hour of the three-hour broadcast to the match that opened and closed the show.

Before the Tag Team Turmoil got underway, though, Bobby Lashley and MVP interrupted RK-Bro in the opening segment. Since he ate an RKO from Orton last week, Lashley decided to challenge The Apex Predator to a match. Orton accepted, but only if the match was for the WWE Championship, something Lashley agreed to. That match will take place at Extreme Rules on September 26.

The Tag Team Turmoil Match then got underway and The New Day proved to be dominant as they picked up wins over The Viking Raiders, Jinder Mahal & Veer, The Lucha House Party, and Mace & T-Bar as the first hour of Raw came to an end. The match had to be halted, though, as Mace & T-Bar attacked The New Day and Mansoor & Mustafa Ali before the next match could get underway.

The turmoil resumed to close out Raw and The New Day continued their streak as they vanquished Mustafa Ali & Mansoor. AJ Styles & Omos then made their way to the ring next and both teams fought back and forth for 15 minutes before The Phenomenal One put Kofi Kingston away with a Styles Clash.

The show was then down to the final two teams as Bobby Lashley and MVP headed to the ring as the final entrants. Styles tried deck Lashley with a Phenomenal Forearm after six minutes of action, but The All Mighty managed to duck out of the way before he hit Styles with a Spear for the 1-2-3.

MVP and Lashley didn't have time to celebrate their title shot, though, as Omos decked Lashley with a Chokeslam. Then, as Lashley rose to his feet, Randy Orton hit the WWE Champion with an RKO as Raw went off the air.

Another number one contender was determined elsewhere on Raw as Sheamus and Drew McIntyre went one on one for the fourth time this year to decide who would challenge Damian Priest for the United States Title at Extreme Rules. Both men had a good 14-minute match and McIntyre had another high-profile loss on Raw as Sheamus rolled him up for the 1-2-3.

The Raw Women's Championship was also on the line on September 6 as Nia Jax faced off against Charlotte Flair. There was no terrible shoot fighting for the fans in attendance this week and Flair retained her title with a middle rope Natural Selection after Shayna Baszler accidentally distracted her tag team partner.

Elsewhere on the show, Karrion Kross picked up a dominant win over John Morrison, Nikki A.S.H & Rhea Ripley vanquished Natalya & Tamina, and Reggie retained the 24/7 Title against Akira Tozawa before the former sommelier came face-to-face with Drake Maverick after the match.
