CM Punk and Drew McIntyre went to war at WWE Bad Blood this past Saturday, as Punk defeated McIntyre in a brutal and bloody Hell in a Cell Match.
The bout came to an end when Punk hit McIntyre with a GTS after wrapping a steel chain around his knee.
According to a report from PWInsider, the feeling backstage was that the two men brought back a sense of danger and ferociousness that steel cage (and later Cell) matches used to carry.
PWInsider also noted that both Punk and McIntyre were, as you might expect, banged up after the match (which was produced by Chris Park, AKA Abyss). However, Punk collapsing in the aisleway after the match was not due to a specific injury or distress, but rather the Straight Edge Superstar selling the effects of the Cell.
Drew, on the other hand, did require 16 staples to close a wound that was caused by a toolbox shot to the head. WWE talent were reportedly marvelling at McIntyre's ability to power through after the match.
All signs indicate that the 'Scottish Warrior' did not suffer a concussion and he was said to be coherent and aware afterwards. Incredibly, he also seems to have avoided injury on the spot where he missed a Claymore Kick and landed back-first on the steel stairs.
