WWE Receives $1.6 Million Tax Break

WWE receives $1.6 million in tax credits

WWE have received a large chunk of change in the form of a tax break.

The Columbus Dispatch has reported that the Ohio Department of Development has provided $44 million in tax credits for the filming of movies and TV series across Ohio. The awards are being made through the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit Program which provides a 30% refundable tax credit for eligible productions. The tax credit was created in 2009 and is designed to encourage the growth of a strong film industry in Ohio.

One of the productions that applied for a tax credit is ultimately WWE and the company received $1.6 million. There was no specific show mentioned and WWE were simply listed as, 'WWE 2024, Ohio, $1,675,986.'

It emerged in late 2023, however, that Cleveland, Ohio was the frontrunner to host the 2024 edition of SummerSlam. No official announcement has been made as of yet but likely venues for the show were Cleveland Browns Stadium or Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Guardians.

WWE most recently held a show in Cleveland in late 2023 when Monday Night Raw emanated from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on December 11.
